HOW TO REMOVE MOULD SAFELY!

Mould Mayhem: Ditch the Bleach, Embrace the Green Clean!

Mould. The mere mention evokes images of slimy walls, musty smells, and a looming health threat. But fear not! Today, The Green Rebellion challenges the chemical-laden status quo of mould removal, offering powerful, planet-friendly solutions.

Mould: The Uninvited Guest and Its Unholy Agenda

Mold thrives in damp, dark environments, feeding on organic matter. Leaky pipes, poor ventilation, and condensation create prime real estate for these unwanted guests. While some molds are harmless, many pose serious health risks, triggering allergies, respiratory problems, and even cognitive decline. Studies published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (2021) link mold exposure to asthma development in children, while a Nature Medicine (2020) study suggests a potential link between mold and Alzheimer's disease. Mental health problems are also being linked to mould with A 2023 study in the Environmental Research journal suggests a strong link between mould exposure and increased anxiety and depression.

The Bleach Charade: Masking the Problem, Not Solving It

Most conventional cleaning companies rely on harsh chemicals like bleach to tackle mould. While bleach may seem to "erase" the problem, it only bleaches the surface, leaving the underlying mould spores alive and well, ready to resurface with a vengeance. This "out of sight, out of mind" approach does nothing to address the root cause of the moisture problem, putting your health at continued risk.

Enter the Green Brigade: Nature's Arsenal Against Mould

The Green Rebellion believes in harnessing the power of nature for a healthier home and planet.

Here's our two-pronged attack on mould:

1. Eviction Notice: Hot Soapy Water, Vinegar & Clove Oil

  • Hot water (60°C or higher) kills mould on contact. Fill a bucket with hot, soapy water (add a few drops of dish soap) and don your gloves. Scrub the affected area vigorously, ensuring the water reaches all nooks and crannies.

  • Vinegar, a natural antifungal and antibacterial agent, weakens the mould cell walls & Clove oil, a natural antifungal and antibacterial agent, delivers the final blow. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle along with 10 drops of clove oil. Spritz the scrubbed area with the vinegar & clove oil solution, let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse well.

  • Repeat this process daily for several days to ensure complete eradication.

2. Mould-Proofing Your Home: Prevention is Key

  • Address moisture issues. Fix leaky pipes, improve ventilation with exhaust fans and dehumidifiers, and ensure proper drainage around your home.

  • Increase sunlight exposure. Open curtains and blinds to let the sunshine in - mould hates light!

  • Invest in air purifiers with HEPA filters. These capture mould spores and other allergens, improving indoor air quality.
